MARK TUNNICLIFFE
MULTIMEDIA TECHNOLOGY AND DESIGN BSc
I consider myself to be both a creative and a technical person, in creating my final year project “Q-Nav” I had to create a project that would show my full potential in both areas, to ensure I could get the best possible mark. Since joining my course at Brunel it has constantly make me think in new and creative ways, which I believe is shown in my project.
QNav - A multimedia mobile tool for theme parks
I plan to design, build & test a multimedia map for theme parks. It will be designed to run on mobile phones, users of the system will be able to download the software to their phone from a website before they go to the park, or have it loaded onto their phone at the park entrance.
The primary purpose of this map is to increase interactivity between the guest and the theme park, once the software is loaded onto a user’s phone they will be to interact with the park in a number of key ways:
• Navigate the park easily.
• Book Fast-Track tickets to rides, without going to the ride itself or designated zone.
• Navigate to park facilities such as toilets, lockers and restaurants.
• Internet access using wireless technology, to control boredom during ride queuing.
• Get live information on ride queue times, ride status and the latest offers.
• Map extensions – such as ‘find more’ which will show rides of the same type
• Backend Management system – Manage groups such as school trips.
• Using XML & RSS technology have live up to the second information.
